Process Industry Practices Offers Built-in Piping Practices with Standard Database for SmartPlant Reference Data

Process Industry Practices (PIP) is a consortium of process plant owners and engineering construction contractors. PIP harmonizes member companies’ internal standards for design, procurement, construction and maintenance into a set of industry-wide practices for voluntary use.

Organized in 1993, PIP is a separately funded non-profit initiative operating under the umbrella of the Construction Industry Institute at The University of Texas at Austin. PIP’s active membership has grown to 55 companies plus 50 additional subscriber and licensee companies. While our emphasis is on the process industry, it is clear that many PIP Practices can effectively be used by related industries such as pulp and paper, pharmaceuticals and power.

PIP is pleased to be working with Intergraph to make our piping material specifications available to the industry through Intergraph Standard Database for SmartPlant Reference Data.

The current release of Standard Database for SmartPlant Reference Data includes 21 of the PIP piping material specifications, and 20 additional specifications will be available soon. The remaining specifications are planned for inclusion in the near future. These specifications are available only to PIP member or subscriber companies.

NIAEP partners with Intergraph to develop a solution for nuclear power facilities design and construction

Nizhny Novgorod Engineering Company «Atomenergoproekt» (NIAEP), a leading Russian nuclear power plant engineering, design and construction company, and Intergraph will jointly develop a specialized solution for nuclear power facilities design and construction management.

NIAEP currently uses SmartPlant® Enterprise to design the nuclear power units of Rostov NPP and plans to use SmartPlant Construction and SmartPlant Review to build new units. As an Intergraph Premier Partner, NIAEP will use the existing technologies SmartPlant 3D, SmartPlant Foundation, SmartPlant Materials, SmartPlant Construction and SmartPlant Review to design, build and manage complex project scheduling capabilities and to create a new technology, which fulfills the unique demands of nuclear power facilities.
